PVCPetrochemicals & Commodity Polymers4 listed markets

Polyvinyl chloride is a thermoplastic polymer made by polymerizing vinyl chloride monomer, either from ethylene (via ethylene dichloride and VCM) or from acetylene made from calcium carbide. It is sold as a dry white or off-white powder or granule called resin, packed in bags, jumbo bags, or bulk hoppers. Suspension-grade resin is the largest volume type and is compounded with stabilizers, plasticizers, and fillers into rigid pipe, fittings, profiles, and flexible film and cable insulation. Paste-grade and other specialty grades serve coating and dip-molding uses and are outside this record's scope.

Grades

A sealed sample is tested for K-value (a measure of average molecular weight derived from dilute-solution viscosity), bulk density, volatile matter and residual moisture, particle size distribution, plasticizer absorption, and residual vinyl chloride monomer content. Prime-grade certificates also confirm absence of fish-eyes (unmelted gel particles) and off-color contamination, and off-grade or reprocessed lots are tested against the same parameters to establish the discount.

K67K-value 67K-value 66 to 68, used for rigid pipe, fitting, and profile extrusion, the standard pipe-grade resin
OFFGRDOff-grade / wide-specK-value outside a single narrow band, or failing one or more of volatile matter, bulk density, fish-eye, or particle-size specification, sold at a discount to the nearest prime K-value grade

Common questions

What grades of pvc does SIP Global trade?

We quote 3 published grades of pvc, including K57 - K-value 57, K67 - K-value 67 and OFFGRD - Off-grade / wide-spec. Every grade is tied to a delivery point and a settlement route. Grades outside the published list are priced on request.

How is pvc graded?

A sealed sample is tested for K-value (a measure of average molecular weight derived from dilute-solution viscosity), bulk density, volatile matter and residual moisture, particle size distribution, plasticizer absorption, and residual vinyl chloride monomer content. Prime-grade certificates also confirm absence of fish-eyes (unmelted gel particles) and off-color contamination, and off-grade or reprocessed lots are tested against the same parameters to establish the discount. Grading runs on 1 system: K-value viscosity ladder.

Where does SIP Global trade pvc?

We trade pvc in China, United States, Taiwan, South Korea, Egypt, India, Ethiopia and Nepal and 4 further markets. Origins and destinations outside this list trade on request. We are not limited to the locations shown.

How do I get a price for pvc?

Send the grade, the origin and the delivery window to the SIP Global desk. That is enough for a trader to come back with a level and a settlement route. 4 listed pvc markets are published on this page, each with its full specification and terms. We take both sides, physical and financial, prompt to long dated.
